On May 11th, volunteers from TerraLogix Solutions, Shortgrass Eco Systems Ltd and Chinook Pheasants Forever gathered at the Ross Creek Conservation Site to expand the smaller food plot and seed it to oats. The goal is to provide food and shelter for wildlife through the winter.
Days earlier Chinook PF had contacted Chris George from TerraLogix Solutions about utilizing his services to assist in doing this work. Chris lined up Shortgrass Eco Systems out of Brooks who would provide the equipment and manpower to break up and seed the original four-acre food plot in addition to breaking up and seeding two more acres thereby expanding the food plot from four to six acres. For safety purposes TerraLogix would also provide the fire suppression equipment and the operator.
Working of the ground commenced around 7:30 AM and fertilizing and seeding was completed by 5:30 PM. Shortgrass did a great job getting the food plot completed in a timely and efficient manner.
TerraLogix Solutions and Shortgrass Eco Systems provided the equipment and manpower at no charge to Chinook PF. This is an example of outstanding community service on the part of these two great companies.
Chinook PF wants to thank the following individuals for their donation of equipment, manpower and time for this project:
- TerraLogix Solutions Redcliff Branch
- Chris George Manager
- Michaela Anderson Safety / Admin
- Shortgrass Eco Systems Ltd Brooks, AB
- Jay Olson
- Brett Martin
Chinook PF also wants to thank Jim Dick Farms for their donation of the Oat and Winter Wheat seed mixture. They provided enough seed to plant both food plots totalling 12 acres. They are great friends of wildlife.
Because of the generosity of these people and businesses, Chinook only had to cover the cost of the fertilizer.
