On September 5th, the Chinook chapter of Pheasants Forever planted winter wheat at the two food plots at Ross Creek. Funds to put in the food plot were provided by a grant from the Alberta Conservation Association.
The food plots at Ross Creek were put in to benefit upland birds, deer and ground nesting birds. The winter wheat will provide nesting cover for ground nesting birds during the spring, then during the fall and winter it will provide food for deer, pheasants, huns and sharp-tail grouse.
