Pheasant stamp sales indicate the number of licensed pheasant hunters pursuing these birds in Alberta.
52% of licenses sold were to hunters between the ages of 12 to 45.
37% of licenses sold were to hunters between the ages of 46 to 65.
It appears that as the older hunters hang up their guns and retire their dogs there is a new generation of hunters to replace them.
Hunter retention and recruitment is important as these will be the people who will continue to work on the conservation issues critical in maintaining and improving upland habitat.
