Encaustic Painting is an ancient form of painting. It uses layers of pigmented molten beeswax mixed with damar resin and colored pigment. Each layer is fused with a torch.
Donna Hanson paints with molten wax and fire, interpreting prairie scenes in an abstract way through the use of color and texture. She encourages the viewer to touch the painting as encaustic is a very sensual medium
Summer Sky evokes the classic Alberta summer scene – a bright yellow canola field under a summer sky.
